About Course
This term in Mathematics, you will learn about different kinds of measurements and how to use them in real-life situations. You will begin by understanding capacity—which means how much a container can hold—and move on to speed, where you’ll learn how fast things move. You’ll also explore athletic time, where you practice timing events like races, helping you understand how time is measured in sports.
Later in the term, you’ll learn about plane figures and polygons, which are two-dimensional shapes like triangles and rectangles, and also learn how to measure angles and understand height and distance using simple math tools. You’ll then work with scatter drawings to show information and learn about population data using pictograms and bar charts. Finally, you’ll be introduced to measures of central tendency—mode, mean, and median—which are ways to find the middle or most common value in a set of numbers. These will help you understand how data is analyzed and explained.
