ABOUT THIS COURSE: This course covers essential aspects of grammar, comprehension, vocabulary development, speech work, and writing skills. It begins with a review of the parts of speech, focusing on nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and spelling rules, including the doubling of consonants.
Students will develop comprehension and reading skills while exploring various topics such as religion, addiction, insurance, irrigation, and law enforcement. Vocabulary development will include words associated with libraries, entertainment, human body parts, and legal matters.
The study of grammar includes phrasal verbs, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, modal auxiliaries, sequence of tenses, and verb agreement. Speech work will focus on pronunciation skills, covering monophthongs, idioms, word stress, consonant clusters, and sounds in complex words.
Writing exercises will introduce different types of essays, including expository and article writing, as well as report writing and informal letter formatting. Students will also analyze novel extracts and explore figures of speech to enhance literary appreciation and expression.
