About Course

This course provides a comprehensive foundation in English language skills, including speech, grammar, comprehension, writing, and literature, with a focus on practical application and creative expression.

The speechwork component focuses on vowel and consonant sounds to enhance pronunciation and oral communication skills. This includes revisiting vowel sounds, consonant sounds, and contrasts like /әu/ and /au/, as well as specific consonant contrasts such as /t/ and /k/, /p/ and /t/, and /l/ and /r/.

Grammar lessons cover essential topics such as parts of speech, transitive and intransitive verbs, and tense aspects (present and past). Additional topics include the use of conjunctions, making requests and commands, and converting between direct and indirect speech.

Reading comprehension is developed through engaging texts, including “The Hippopotamus,” “Why the Hippo Lives in Water,” and extracts from Things Fall Apart. Topics like broadcasting, planting, and the armed forces are explored to build contextual understanding and vocabulary.

Writing tasks guide students in crafting various essay types, including narrative, descriptive, and formal and informal letters. Specific assignments include a narrative essay on “The Lorry Trip,” a descriptive essay about “My Favorite Teacher,” and a formal letter of invitation.

The literature component introduces and expands on figures of speech, encouraging students to appreciate and analyze stylistic devices in texts. Vocabulary development covers specialized areas such as religion, sports, and newspaper terminology.
