This course covers various aspects of English language development, including spelling, comprehension, grammar, writing, and speech work. Students will explore British and American English spelling differences, enhancing their understanding of language variations.
Summary writing will focus on reading and condensing information from texts such as Traditional Mud Architecture, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Agricultural Technical Aid Corps, and Party Systems, improving students’ ability to identify main ideas and key points.
Comprehension exercises will cover diverse topics like Technology, Government, Peptic Ulcer, On the Road, Stock Exchange, and Absurdist Drama, strengthening students’ reading skills, critical thinking, and ability to extract relevant details from texts.
In grammar and structure, students will study adverbs and their types, relative pronouns, plural forms of nouns, noun phrases, sentence types based on structure, punctuation marks, and possessive apostrophes, ensuring a strong grasp of English sentence construction and mechanics.
Speech work will focus on stress patterns in multi-syllabic words and intonation in sentences, helping students improve pronunciation and spoken communication.
