About Course

This term, students will focus extensively on developing their oral English skills through various aspects of speech work. They will begin by reviewing diphthongs and gradually move on to the pronunciation of mono-, bi-, and polysyllabic words, strengthening their phonetic awareness and clarity of speech. They will also participate in short plays and engage in speaking activities that require them to talk about relevant topics and practice public speaking, such as giving a vote of thanks.

Further into the term, students will explore intonation in dialogue and the pronunciation of words with shifting stress patterns, helping them speak more naturally and effectively. The curriculum includes a reading session with newspaper materials to enhance vocabulary and comprehension, while also encouraging students to recognize the importance of tone and rhythm in spoken communication. Overall, the term is designed to improve pronunciation, fluency, and confidence in spoken English.
