This subject focuses on developing students’ listening, speaking, and writing skills in English through intensive speech work and narrative writing.
The term begins with intonation practice, helping students understand how tone affects meaning in spoken English. Students will engage in aural discrimination exercises to distinguish between vowel sounds like /i:/ and /ɔ:/, as well as different consonant sounds, which enhances both pronunciation and listening comprehension.
As they progress, learners will practice intonation in various sentence types, including commands, questions, and statements, reinforcing how pitch patterns influence communication. The term also includes training on reporting incidents clearly and accurately, which lays the foundation for the final segment on narrative writing, where students learn to give eyewitness accounts of events, improving their descriptive and sequential writing abilities.
