About Course

This term, pupils will be introduced to how computers are classified by generation and purpose. They will learn about the first to fifth generations of computers, exploring how computers have changed from big, slow machines to the fast and powerful ones we use today. Lessons will cover important features and uses of each generation.

In the second half of the term, pupils will be taught how computers are classified based on purpose — such as special purpose (made for specific tasks) and general purpose (used for many things). They will also learn how to properly shut down a computer using options like sleep, hibernate, restart, and shutdown, helping them understand safe ways to end a computing session.
