About Course

This term in Civic Education, you will begin by learning about the responsibilities of each family member and how everyone contributes to the success and happiness of the home. You’ll then explore civic values like honesty, fairness, and respect—values that help build a better society.

In Weeks 3 and 4, you’ll study national consciousness, which means understanding and promoting love for your country. This will lead to a deeper discussion on ethnicity, its negative effects, and how it can cause division if not properly handled.

By Week 7, you’ll be thinking about solutions to the problem of ethnicity in Nigeria, such as promoting unity, respect, and equal treatment. The last part of the term focuses on constituted authority—like the police, government officials, and community leaders—and their roles and responsibilities in maintaining law, order, and fairness in society.
