About Course

This term’s focus is on the Nigerian constitution and electoral processes, beginning with the meaning and importance of the constitution. Students explore the features of colonial constitutions, followed by an in-depth look at the 1960 Independence Constitution and subsequent post-independence constitutions, including the 1963 Republican Constitution. These topics help learners understand how Nigeria’s legal and political systems have evolved over time.

The latter part of the term shifts to the principles of democracy, starting with the supremacy of the constitution, then delving into elections, their significance in democratic governance, and the role of electoral bodies in Nigeria. This equips students with knowledge of how democratic systems operate and the importance of active civic participation.
