This course explores essential values and foundational concepts of governance and social ethics, providing students with the knowledge to understand and practice good citizenship.
The term begins with a focus on integrity, emphasizing its meaning, importance, and practical application in daily life. This is followed by an examination of people of integrity in Nigeria, celebrating role models who exemplify honesty and strong moral principles.
Students will then study contentment, learning the importance of being satisfied with what one has, as well as the role of discipline in achieving personal and collective goals. The concept of respect for rules and regulations is addressed, highlighting its necessity for maintaining order in society. The study of courage follows, focusing on its role in overcoming challenges and upholding principles.
The latter part of the course introduces students to key concepts of governance, beginning with Nigeria as a federation, where the structure and organization of the nation are explored. The characteristics of a federation are discussed to deepen understanding of this system of government. Finally, the course examines government and the role of the legislature, providing insights into the functions and significance of these entities in fostering democracy and good governance.
