About Course

This term in Mathematics, you will begin by revising the basic operations — addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division — to make sure you can solve everyday math problems with confidence.

You will then learn about standard form, multiples, factors, and prime numbers, which will help you understand how numbers are built and how to work with large or special numbers in simpler ways.

Next, you’ll explore proportion, where you’ll see how different quantities relate to each other in a fair or balanced way, followed by learning how to find the Highest Common Factor (HCF) and Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) of numbers.

You will also be introduced to simple interest, which is a way of calculating money earned or owed over time — a very useful life skill. Then, you’ll learn to draw and read linear graphs, which are straight-line graphs used to show relationships between numbers.

In the later weeks, you’ll study directed numbers — numbers that show direction, like positive and negative numbers — and how to work with them. Finally, you’ll be introduced to algebraic fractions, which are like regular fractions but contain letters and numbers together.
