About Course

In this term, you’ll begin by learning about whole numbers and the place value system, which helps you understand the value of each digit in a number depending on where it appears.

You’ll then move into approximation, starting with significant figures, which teach you how to round numbers more accurately. After that, you’ll see how approximation is useful in real-life situations, like when shopping or measuring.

Next, you’ll explore the number base system, especially base 2 (binary). You’ll learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and convert numbers from one base to another, which is important in computer science.

Later in the term, you’ll work on basic operations (addition and subtraction), solving word problems, and learning how to use mathematical signs like +, –, ×, ÷ to make calculations easier.

Toward the end of the term, you’ll be introduced to algebra. You’ll learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide algebraic expressions, and also how to identify coefficients and simplify expressions.
