About Course

This term introduces students to the packaging and marketing of agricultural produce, equipping them with practical knowledge and skills relevant to modern farming and agribusiness.

The term begins with a review of previous knowledge before delving into the packaging of processed foods, explaining the different types of packagingprimary, secondary, and tertiary—and the materials used, such as nylon, cartons, paper, sacks, and boxes.

Students will explore the reasons for packaging farm produce, including preservation, protection during transportation, and appeal for market sales. They will also identify crops suitable for packaging and learn the importance of choosing the right method for each crop.

The second half of the term focuses on the marketing aspect of agriculture, covering where and how agricultural goods are sold, the activities involved in agricultural marketing, and the various types of markets, such as domestic markets, farm gate sales, local markets, and supermarkets. This knowledge prepares students to better understand the value chain in agriculture from farm to consumer.
