About Course
This term’s Civic Education curriculum introduces learners to constitutional democracy, emphasizing governance based on laws and the participation of the people. It builds on this by exploring the rule of law—the principle that all individuals and institutions are accountable to the same set of laws. The course then shifts focus to public administration, discussing the civil service and the role of the civil service commission in ensuring efficiency and merit-based appointments.
The second half of the term covers citizenship and the constitution, highlighting citizens’ rights and responsibilities, as well as the foundational legal document guiding the nation. Students then study federalism, learning about power distribution between levels of government. The curriculum ends with a look at civil society and the protection of human rights, reinforcing the importance of civic participation and legal protections in a democratic system.
