About Course
This course covers essential aspects of language development, including comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, essay writing, and speech work.
Students will engage in comprehension exercises, analyzing texts for critical evaluation, implied meanings, and reading skills like skimming and scanning. They will explore topics such as meteors, moral behavior, agriculture, and national resistance movements.
In grammar and structure, students will study noun phrases, noun clauses, verb phrases, adverbs, adverbials, sentence types, direct and indirect speech, clauses, and phrasal verbs. They will also practice word modifiers, focusing on adjectives and adverbs.
Vocabulary development will introduce words related to nation-building, agriculture, the environment, smell, taste, color, and technology. Spelling lessons will address commonly misspelled words.
Essay writing will include narrative, descriptive, formal, and informal letters, with specific emphasis on letters of complaint and letters to friends. Students will also practice report writing and speech writing.
Speech work will focus on diphthongs, contrasting stress, and phonetic sounds, including /ʧ/, /∫/, /ʤ/, and /Ʒ/. The course also covers techniques for summary writing, particularly how to answer summary questions effectively.
